Jose, Use the option "-rfbauth passwd-file-path" when starting the vncserver, where passwd-file-path should point to a file containing your password in cleartext. Refer to Xvnc man pages for more information.
Speaking of security, VNC version 4.1.1 has a security hole (lets vncviewer bypass authentication) that has been fixed in 4.1.2. The latest version can be downloaded from the realvnc website. Ps : You would want to send your mails to the mailing list to get a faster/better response instead of mailing a single person. -siva. -----Original Message----- From: Huerta, Jose [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2006 10:01 AM To: Kumar, Siva Subject: RE: Trouble getting my Xvnc to display on my PC display Siva, NEvermind my last question, I am now able to access the server. I had to put in my Session number at the end of the server name servername:# Thanks, By the way, Is it true that VNC offers User Authentication capabilities? We are interested in possibly using this as our user management tool, if possible. (http://www.realvnc.com/products/free/4.1/winvncviewer.html) If you are doing so, what does the vncviewer say when it fails? -siva -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Huerta, Jose Sent: Tuesday, October 17, 2006 5:54 PM To: vnc-list@realvnc.com Subject: Trouble getting my Xvnc to display on my PC display Hello, I have installed and started up the software vncserver on my HP host and expected to see the VNC desktop appear, but it does not.
