Hi,

I'm running vncserver 4.0 on an SGI IA64 Prism system under Linux, and
viewing on a Windows XP laptop with free viewer 4.1.
All works ok for the Gnome desktop and apps, and simple X apps, but OpenGL
apps fail with "GLX extension missing".

I see from the list archives this is a frequent issue - the GLX/OpenGL
support appears to be easily available, but not on by default.

I've searched the archives and there are lots of one-line fragmentary
answers to this issue - "#define GLsomething" and rebuild - download xf4vnc
- these look like possibly many hours of work and no guarantee of a solution
! :=)

Can someone point to a comprehensive page with the full answer to this ? I'm
assuming here the need for OpenGL to work on Linux/Unix is widespread, and
easily done. Mesa and other free libs can easily provide the interface and
rendering. It's a bit of a mystery why it's not default in Vnc, but everyone
says that about their own area of interest :=)

Many thanks.

Here's my config:
Server is vnc-server-4.0-0.beta4.1.4
Running on IA64 (Itanium2) under a RedHat based Linux.
Gfx is ATI R350 cards (FireGL X2 variant).
(8 cpus, 4 pipes)

Viewer is 4.1.1 on XP.
