Forgot to note in original question: Home system is a single user PC, running Windows Pro 2000. Office system is a networked PC, running XP Pro.
I've reserached thru the FAQ's and other areas of the VNC website and don't see anything relating to why the password authentication window would not open, only that if it's checked in Properties, that it will open. Also, I did notice that when the "VNC Viewer - Connecting" window opens, it just says 'Attempting to connect to server', then that's when nothing happens. That window closes - no error message, no viewer opening - just nothing. Apparently it's not connecting, although the VPN shows it is connected and online. Hope that makes sense.
