I also built Xvnc 3.3.3, using the MIPS Pro compilers. It just wasn't clear
to me from the list messages whether anyone has yet built a version 4 server
for IRIX. I was able to build a version 4 viewer.

Yes (at least old versions). I posted patches to the list after the
maintainers declined them -- check the archi

If possible, you could run the SGI desktop environment inside an Xvnc
server.
Alternatively, if the Xsgi server can support dynamic module loading them
you can build the vnc.so module on the SGI machine and then follow the
instructions at http://www.realvnc.com/products/enterprise/4.1/x0.ht
