not feasible in a short period of time: use your old version of the
viewer to see if the problem is still there. If it isn't there, just
use the old version in the meanwhile.

The Connection Details dialog is the dialog that pops up when you run VNC
Viewer, into which you enter the server to which you wish to connect. What
are you entering into that?

Are you sure that you're connecting to the RFB port for your VNC server, and
not to the HTTP port? What are you entering into the Server box in the
Connection Details dialog?
