The paste command might be just what you need. It is invoked in this
manner: paste file1 file2

sorry if this has been suggested before, but i've been too busy to read

you can do this in, literally, 2 seconds with vim's block cut & paste.
but paste is a good suggestion if you don't use vim.

I found the problem. Pure FTPD puts all users into a chroot group and
cages them into their home folder.
