I think you may have overlooked the following line from the crux install
notes: sudo prt-get install dietlibc
I believe you need to use dietlibc, I had troubles without it. Herbert
suggested I try it. All worked fin

Escalation Weakness in the April 10 report.
I found nothing on the list about this back as far as late February. Is
this report FUD, not worth worrying about, or I missed the whole thread
