I actually got a pleasant surprise when I discovered that I could synch my Palm Vx with PD under 10.2 using IR on a TiPB - it never worked with any other version of OS X. I haven't tried USB though and it sounds like you are probably trying over USB. Works fine for me via a Keyspan USB adapter (
