Virtual memory seems to generate a series of swapfiles in var/vm which are never released except with a reboot. They are in succession 32MB, 64MB..1GB etc with my disk space correspondingly dwindling. They belong to the system and are padlocked. How do I find the culprit and is ther

Yes I'm still getting the problem. I guess I could reset my cookies but then that wouldn't explain why it occurred IE also because I only recently checked in IE. I have the mac firewall turned on. I don't think this would cause a problem like this but I'm not entirely sure. Just a question of

Ok I tried running disk first aid under the disk utility but it couldn't detect any problems and the repair disk function didn't result in the problem being solved. I somehow managed to get a couple of the files to duplicate and the duplicated versions don't cause any trouble for me at all. I

A CD burnt on my eMac using Toast Titanium cannot usually be read by on an iMac. The disc either tells me it is a DOS disc or wont do anything except spin crazily. Will 'Joliet Reader' installed on the iMac(s) fix this problem? TIA Kevin

I think you'll find the "reasoning" of this issue, is that on a PC you can access your local file system via a browser window. ie. D:\TEMP = local drive D:, the \ is the PC folder separator and then folder TEMP. So, on IE it determines that the http: request is the "Internet" and therefore forc
