In the hours since applying the new mammoth Security Update, I've had
about seven kernel panics. They seem to be caused by copying any file(s)
from any partition of my Firewire400 drive to any other partition.
The crash reporter lists the same cause though:
panic(cpu 0): BlockAllocateContig: alloc
I think I've got a few knocking around. You're welcome to one if you
haven't had any luck yet.

I've never experienced anything like that before but as a guess it
could be a permissions problem. You could try repairing permissions
and also looking at the permissions on the mp3 files using get info
from the finder.
Also make sure that the problem mp3s are not from a shared music
