Thanks for this info, however I could not locate this .plist anywhere on my
drive. I guess, as mentioned previously, because I have never upgraded my
OS, still running 10.3.9, this explains why I do not have such a .plist.
I've decided to forgo Apple's guarantee and dismantle the mouse
OK, Michael Campbell suggested I reset the pram, did that then
disconnected the modem/router(yep Robert, one box)
so I could transfer some photos from my camera. then I checked my
email again and got the reply from Robert.

I'd recommend getting a Microsoft or Logitech mouse, much more reliable as
well.
Only advantage with the Mighty Mouse is the buttons on the side to get
Dashboard, Expose etc but you end up inadvertently pressing them when you
don't want to!

I must see how to open the mighty beast to get right into the mechanics of
the scroll wheel for a proper clean.

well i'm using a kensington trackball, a push from bottom gets the
ball out & exposes the wheels for easy cleaning...no alcohol
needed..

My Mighty Mouse has developed a problem whereby the scroll wheel only
scrolls upwards but stubbornly refuses to scroll downwards. It used to work
very well until 2 days ago.
I have tried on different applications: Safari, Mail, Entourage, Firefox &
Excel all with the same results -
