open office runs under x11!!
neooffice is a port for tiger & has very good capabilities in import/ export word docs
i have both installed but using mainly neooffice
http://download.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php

both are 100% free & supported, well you may donate something
there is now aan early access fee payable programm, but if you can wait you still get the updates free

bear in mind you still have to make sure you got all fonts used in a word doc, also it may not be the fastest program

cheers James

I seem to be receiving more Word documents from PC users than in the past. AppleWorks seems to lose the format of the document when used to translate. Office 98 copes quite well but I'm trying to wean myself from using Classic.

A look at the comments from iWorks users does not give iWorks a clean bill of health either in this area.

If any members are using Open Office, how do you find the quality of translation from a Word document?
Comments about any of these applications appreciated.
