While BSD is similar to Linux, they aren't the same. If understanding Linux is the outcome, then Ubuntu very easy path. Even if you want to learn about 'Terminal', learning about Linux via Ubuntu will be far easier - using OS X via Terminal will be relatively easy then. Unfortunately not so the
