Hi Brian, Any application that uses the camera can trigger the VCDAssistant crash that you are seeing in Console. You need to look if you have installed any similar programs like the ones I mentioned below, which changes the controller of the display(s) and the way OS X Mavericks handles them.

Hi Brian Have you installed any "new" software recently (or third party add ons?) How did you un-install Airport as well? Just dragged it to the Trash or uninstalled it? A few places to start with,… Look in Macintosh HD - Library. Look in LaunchAgents for anything there that may relate to video
