Hi Ronni, I recognised that during the process of trying to verify the iPad had somehow become not connected to the Wifi network. I simply reconnected to the Wifi which allowed the iPad to positively allow the Find my iPad to switch off. So this allowed me to do a proper reset and then restore

Hi Ronni, thanks, well I am trying now to erase the iPad but I get into a vicious circle I can't seem to get out of - which probably explains the iMessages problem I'm having anyway. So if I break the loop I'm in then the problem will probably solve itself. Anyway, I can't erase because to do
