Try the *external* reset switch. It's a bump close to the top of the
case on the rear panel, next to one of the screws. You may need to
visually locate it first.

In some, perhaps all, models of Mac there is a little red button called the
CUDA switch/button (I think or maybe CUBA). After replacing the battery you
may need to press this button to get everything running again - it has
happened to me with the same symptoms.

Sorry no easy fix for this sounds like it could be either the power supply
or the logic board.
