AS well as having an appropriate System... 7.1 to 7.5 should work,
You MUST have the right System Enabler,
which is probably why you were not able to get something else working.

I have a friend with an old Mac LC520. At present he can't get it working
so I brought it home to see if I could manage something!!
He was given the LC, but it did not come with its system install disks. It
had been working find for word processing etc, but recently crashed and now

I have a feeling that someone will suggest you download the system software
from the Apple web site.
An alternative is to order a replacement system CD from MacRabbit at
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~koala1/macrabbit/maccds.html. I checked the
site and they have a LC520 system CD for
