Anyone ever heard of the printer cable on a beige G3/266 connected from the printer port to the modem port? My stepdaughter accidentally did this on her G3, thus forming a diabolical loop. She then started the G3. (Makes you wince, doesn't it?) This has resulted in the startup procedure stopping
