Yep. Tried all those things.
This is really strange.
They play OK in iTunes.
I deleted them from iMovie and dragged back in but got the same thing.
I even dragged some other music in but same again.
I have searched iTunes and iMovie menus but can't see anything relevant.

Do you have any showing the yellow triangle with exclamation mark?
The yellow caution badge indicates that iMovie can't locate the clip,
whether it be video or audio. The badge is in the shape of a yellow triangle
enclosing an exclamation mark.
If you delete a bad yellow triangle
I just tried to restore iMovie from previous version using Time Machine.
This was before I saw your new email Ronni.
In doing so I finished up with a tiny 2.5MB iTunes app that doesn't work.
So I have deleted and must start from scratch.
At least I will have a clean sheet once I delete that

Looks like a combination of things worked.
I deleted that iMovie preference file as advised.
Then downloaded and installed iTunes from scratch.
I also noticed right at the end of my iMovie project a file with the yellow
triangle so I deleted that.
And now it all seems to be

Good to hear problem is solved. Deleting the clip with the yellow triangle
normally solves the problem you were experiencing.

Hi folks,
I downloaded iTunes 11 today.
Then a little later whilst in iMovie I dragged some music into iMovie in the
usual way.
PANIC !
The music clips have no sound !!
I have checked volume levels, etc and they all look OK.

But not in iMovie when you drag it from the Music and Sound effects browser
directly onto a video clip in your movie?
Did you change or move anything regarding iTunes music.
