I can only tell you what he recommended for my requirements.
I bought a Numark mixer despite the fact I thought they were a bit cheaply made, he assured me Numark had significantly lifted their game.
I mix dance music so I needed a tough mixer.
My DXM06 is by faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar my favorite toy, sorry Dual 450 G4 ;)

A mixer for DJ'ing is a whole different kettle of fish to band mixers-
the week pint for any mixer is the slider faders (and these cheap Behringers and other brands of small mixers use Rotary trim pots instead of sliders/faders to prevent this issue and also to save on physical size of the unit by removing the travel space that faders needs) with audio recording of bands you either, for live work or recordings mono or stereo , set all the sliders/pots to a good overall mix and then leave them there for the whole session, or, for multitrack recording, set each channel/track to have the maximum dynamic signal recorded irrespective of final mix down volume and then leave them there for the entire session. With sub mixes it's even less demanding - Our keyboard mixer has the optimum volumes set for the digital piano and the 4 different synths (2 keyboards each with a second external sound module) set and then we gaffer taped over the mix board and I don't think anything's been changed in over 2 years pretty much the same for the drum sub mixer but without the gaffa so we can tweek it for different mic setup and various types of snares, cymbals and timbalis that the drummer may pull out.

With mixing dance music from turntables/varispeed CD players/samplers you may find yourself slapping the crossfader and channel faders backwards and forwards quite fast and forcefully several dozens to a hundred+ times each track and in that case you would kill off a budget mixer in weeks or even days so, as a rule, here you go for mid to high end unit preferably with individually user replaceable faders.

Cheers
Paul
