One area that definitely isn't covered though is a replacement for
Outlook/Entourage, so if you're looking for that you'll probably find
you need to stick with MS.

I have been using various versions of open office for a number of
years now and find it very satisfactory. I am currently using version
3 for Mac and find it slightly better than Neo Office and it also has
the advantage of not needing X11. One has to remember to save as .doc
etc if you
port from/to micro$oft doc, xls, pps, ppt

I had to use the version of Marine Writer before 3.7.2 as I am
running OS 10.2.8.
The translation lost the format. Surprisingly AppleWorks 5 retains the format.
One day I will have to upgrade my system.
Anyone using Open Office?

If any members are using Open Office, how do you find the quality
of translation from a Word document?
Comments about any of these applications appreciated.

Now that that OpenOffice beta has arrived at the stage where it seems
workable I would l like to try it out. However, the download is over
150megs. This is a bit much for my modem. Is there a local site with a
copy or a way that it can be downloaded in segments?
Any advice appreciated.
