Hi Mike,
Deleting the com.apple.QuickLookDaemon/ folder in
/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.QuickLookDaemon/ folder
And deleting the QuickLookDaemon preference file in
/Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.QuickLookDaemon.plist preference file.
Then restarting your Mac didn't help?

On my iMac QuickLook Helper has started running at close to 100% on all four
cores on my 3 year old iMac in OS 10.6.8.With Activity Monitor only running
QuickLook Helper is at around 393-397% of CPU all the time and my fan is
working overtime because of this.
