I just tap the .vcf in the email
Then in the resulting Window - Select either: 'Create New Contact' or 'Add to
Existing Contact'
All entries were are imported to my iPad Address Book and synced immediately to
Address Book on my MacBook Pro.

You don't have to double click to import the vCard into your address book. One click only.
