Yes it just spins and spins even when activity monitor shows it is not
accessing anything. Does go to sleep though and I do have put the hard disk
to sleep when possible in energy saver preferences. If the computer is awale
the little disk is turning.

To me the vibrating would suggest that the hard drive is constantly spinning
