Dear WAMUG'ers,
Many thanks for all the information provided on Bootcamp and Parallels. I
have passed the emails to my relative, and after due consideration and
trying AutoCAD and a 3D apps on an intel-Mac, he has found no difference to
the performance he was used to on his Win PC.

Bob,
What you say(parallels *faster* than boot camp) runs against the
following speed comparisons:

From experience using it it is slower when either using large files
or having multiple apps, this on a 17 inch macbookpro with 2 gig ram.

I'm not a power user when it comes to Photoshop, but I do use it at a
professional level and I have to say that I specifically went and had
a play with it on an Intel iMac at Dig

an issue than buying an average pc.

Dear WAMUG'ers,
I have a relative of mine thinking of moving from Windows to a Mac - Intel.
However it is important for him to be able to run a CAD application, only
available in Windows version, 3D rendering and Photoshop apps for his last
year of architect studies.
