G'day Shay, yes I've previously investigated FreeNet and found a contact fairly close in Kardinya, but from what I've been able to gather there is no connection from FreeNet to the wider Internet unless anyone knows of some wireless ISPs that service the metro area (at reasonable rates - $150/month for 128Kbps thru Eftel RadioWAN is a bit much!)?

Does anyone have any recent recommendations or experiences of installing and using satellite broadband with a Mac or Airport base station? (Any update on your wamuyg posting on Bigpond satellite last year Andrew?)

Since we can't get ADSL or cable and ISDN looks a bit expense for the slow speeds ($85 per month for 128K with 10hr disconnects), it looks like satellite is our only alternative in Kardinya (near Murdoch University). Unless anyone has had any luck with some of the wireless ISP alternatives floating around?

You may want to check out your location WRT some of the free wireless nodes around the place
