Hi Michael

I believe the only thing the new iPod's require the latest iTunes and
a machine running 10.4 or later
I believe a warning telling you using USB 1 is not recommended but you
can hit okay and choose to continue
A friend of ours Has a new nano But wouldn't work with G3 I believe
because it couldn't run a OS 10.4 or later

But I'm not 100% sure about this I have asked them for you
I'm yet to receive a response
