Indonesian maid climbs out kitchen window SINGAPORE (DPA): An Indonesian maid who was accidentally locked in her employer's kitchen made a harrowing escape out the window rather than waking the sleeping young boy in her charge, news reports said on Monday. The unidentified maid, in her 30s, held on to the outer walls of the fourth-floor flat and teetered on the ledge before getting a grip on the kitchen windows of the third floor, according to The Straits Times . Witnesses to the Saturday incident said the maid slowly lowered herself onto the second-floor window frames and jumped into a flat, shivering and crying when she landed on the kitchen floor. Neighbors said the wind had slammed the kitchen door shut. It was not known why the door locked. The maid, who had been with her employer for seven months, was cooking lunch and hanging out the laundry at the time of the incident. Worried her employer's son would be frightened when he awoke and found no one at home, she opted to climb out the window instead. The maid, who complained of a backache, was taken to a hospital for a check-up. She was back in her employer's flat the same night.
