Police find 4,064 rounds of ammunition in Aceh Sunday, April 18, 2010 18:56 WIB | National | | Viewed 346 time(s) Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA News) - Police have found 4,064 rounds of ammunition and a rifle magazine allegedly thrown by suspected terrorists into a ravine in Aceh Besar district`s protected forest, a police spokesman said on Sunday. The ammunition and magazine were found in a joint operation involving the National Police Headquarters` anti-terror special squad Densus 88, the Aceh provincial police and the Aceh Besar police resort late Saturday, head of the Aceh provincial police`s detective unit Chief Commissioner Esa Permadi said. Esa said the finds consisted of 1,239 rounds of ammunition for AK47 guns, 2,825 rounds of ammunition for M16 guns and a magazine for AK47 gun. "The ammunition and magazine were found in a 50-meter deep ravine around the location ever used by suspected terrorists as training ground, namely Cidop Krueng Linteng protected forest," he said. The finds followed a tip-off from terror suspect Qamaruddin alias Abu Yusuf alias Mustaqim nabbed in last month`s raid, he said. "By bringing the suspect to the scene we combed the location and found the ammunition and magazine," he said. Police shot and killed two suspected terrorists during a gun battle along a road in the district of Aceh Besar near the provincial capital Banda Aceh last month.
