Hey there,
I just saw that the server didn't respond, due to some Bind9 hangup.
Regarding to munin, Bind9 freezed at 2AM CET. Can you _please_ write an
e-mail to me next time you may notice such a hangup? This would result
in somewhat smaller reaction times, since I check my e-mails more

Hello there. I'm sorry about the downtime from today 0:00 to ~ 12:00.
Seems to be the same weired problem as with the previous server and I
think that it's the fault of KVM, as there where no traces why it happened.
I'm using now the 2.6.30 Kernel from Debian backports to see if that
fixes the

Binary isn't bad.
Why not create a ASCII (or even xml... ... ... "...") for uncompiled
maps. Which can be edited.
And then create a small compiler which can compile this maps to a binary
format?

Because XML is a buzzword, xml is NOT good for everything.
Its a markup language for a static tree-like definition list.
And not for data storage...
And where do we have a tree-like static definition?
How do you want to use it?

Lua is a good choice.
Lua's compiler is really light weight and fast. (With some additional
patches faster)
The second point is, that we can redistribute the 'Raw-cripts' which
gets compiled
at the client. This Pre-Compiled scripts can be stored again and this
speeds up loading next time.
However,
XML is slow.
With this amout of files, really slow.
I would say, we should optimize the current engine as far as possible.
There must be some big Performance leaks,...
~ 100 MB Ram usage + ~80% CPU usage on a Athlon 2000+.
(even with shadows off)
Try to remember, the old warzone runs at 32 MB Ra
Hi,
the following:
I would suggest to change the actual game name to something different
than "Warzone2100". (I have a bad feeling with this name...)
Due Warzone2100 was/is a full price game
and the name can/is still be owned by the Eidos Interactive group.
Maybe just "WZ 2100" which intends a b
So, my finally statement.

Put a licence.txt in the installer(whatever) where is declared that:
- The source is fuly GPL
- The Data is currently FreeForUse (Due it was in the original package).

Distribute it as a full package.

Ehh,
can someone explain me slowly,
why we shouldn't contact Pivotal Games? O_o
I didn't get it yet.
And the different licensing sounds gool.
Source -> GPL
Data -> Is/Was free available too, so we distribute it
but not under the GPL because the licence status is unknown.

It looks like, that the copyright is at Pivotal Games now.
Look here: http://www.pivotalgames.com/index.php?content=warzone
Why not try to ask pivotal games at first?
I thing the chances are higher to get a answere there are better!

a new page is already in development.

I had an idea for the master-server.
The idea is, to base the master-server on an IRCd.
So, why that?
The IRC Protocoll is text-based, like discussed before,
and it would make many things easier.
- We would have a stable Master-Server (Or mast
