1.9.1 and 1.9.1.pre1 didn't have any code changes (just a unit test change) so they should be identical. There was an update to rautomation yesterday but activate seems to be there and working for me. I tried to reproduce both #1 and #2 but didn't see the errors you're reporting and nothing change
