Barbering in Mayberry

Something I always wondered about concerning Floyd's barbering techniques. I notice that every single time I have seen Floyd cut hair he uses only a comb and scissors. When I got my hair cut all the time I was growing up in the late 50's and through the 60's and maybe even beyond that time,

I don't understand. Does that mean Elinor Donahue lip-synched her own singing when the scene was filmed? HistoryBuff - Original Message - I'm not sure about Joanna Moore's singing (sounds like her though)but Elinor Donahue has told the story about her singing experience on the show.

Hey Ken, I've cut my husband's hair for years, and have always used an electric razor. Now, if my memory serves me correctly, when my mom cut my brothers' hair, she used scissors, a comb, and a bowl. But that's another story, from another era! You all have a Mayberry Day! Danna In Indiana

Electric clippers

I think the electric clippers would have been too noisy...Of course, Floyd could have just pretended to be actually cutting the hair with them, same as he did with the scissors. But might have been more noticeable that he was just pretending. Ellen
