One of the wonderful things about growing up in a small town like Mayberry in
the 50's and 60's was that one had such a simplistic trust of everyone one
met. There was not the fear that children have today where they are taught
from a very early age not to talk to strangers and not to open
Speaking of heat sources, Barn packed a heater, although I don't think it had a
thermostat. :-)

Hey, Mayberry friends. In reference to Andy passing on the snails and later
saying I'll try anything once about the escargot. When Andy went out with
Peggy it was in black and white. With Darlene Mason, it was in color. Escargot
probably looks better in color, I don't know, just bucket
When Andy took Peggy to that fancy
restaurant, he passed on the escargot. However, when he was in Hollywood and
went out with Darlene Mason, she asked him if he'd ever had escargot. He told
her no but he'd try anything once.
Maybe in the intervening years, Andy became more open-minded about

were attending an awards ceremony honoring Reed for saving Malloy's life.
Accompanying Malloy was our own Helen Crump. The kicker was when the Sergeant
told Malloy Keep an eye on her. She goes for men in uniform.
