Hey, Mayberry friends. We've been talking about folks grinnin' in the
background. How many times have we seen Andy cover his face or mouth to keep
from laughing out loud at something Barney has done or said. I just wonder
which ones were scripted and which ones were genuine. We all know that

feel that Andy makes the one mistake and correction to his lines in the 249
eps.

Late last night I encountered our Malcolm Merriweather on an old episode of
Columbo I think it was from 1972. I met him in Alabama in the mid-90s and he
hadn't changed a bit! And such a nice gentleman!

Hi Ken, Great news on the Squad Car. Keep us posted as to where and when. Maybe
I'll drive up and visit the old girl although it might be like Barney meeting
Thelma Lou and her new husband at the class reunion. It may make me sad but
I could end up with another car that attracts my attention.
Ken, That trip sounds like quite an honor. I'm sure you'll be a great
representative fo Mayberry. But make sure you act like you got some smarts.

Did anyone pursue this connection when we were trying to find out the name of
the actress who plays Nellie?
Since it is not a speaking part on the Newhart show either, I don't suppose it
was ever listed in the credits.
