I cannot help but comment of the vast differences in the legacies of Joe
Paterno and Andy Griffith and Don Knotts. Being a huge fan of Joe Pa for
many years ,my heart was very saddened when I saw the statue of Joe Paterno
removed from the campus of Penn State. It also saddens me to learn the
Atta boy, Luther!. Loved that line!

The 40 Acres back lot, where the exteriors of TAGS were filmed, was bulldozed
in 1976. The area is now an industrial park; I believe there is a security
building on the site where the courthouse stood.
Two of the last films shot there were Switchblade Sisters and Vigilante Force.

The 40 Acres backlot in Culver City was demolished in '75/76 to make
room for an industrial park. The back lot had fallen into extreme
disrepair and sat on some highly marketable real estate. The movie
Vigilante Force (1976) was the last movie filmed there and it is

Sometimes I wonder if each and every local sherriff's department in this
country, as well as every police dept and highway patrol, had at least the
first five seasons of TAGS on DVD in their lounges,( or wherever they go to
