Please stop me if this has been covered before, but I thought I saw a
fellow in a barber's smock sitting out in front of Floyd's who was neither
our beloved Howard Mcnair, nor the first Floyd (who's name escapes me) in
the the episode where Opie was sweet on Thelma Lou, did anyone else notice
if
forgot which episode this was, but the building accross the street from the
Mayberry hotel had a sign painted in the window that read something like,
Hotel, Bar and Restaurant.
this struck me as odd for several reasons. first and foremost; a bar? I
thought Mayberry was dry. secondly, hotel
One thought on the some of the things not making sense, at least in terms
of distance/time such as:the darling's distance from town (yet still being
in the same county); Mt. Pilot's distance, and all the little Two-track
roads leading in and out of Mayberry I think would make sense 30 years
Is there a higher resolution copy of the Mayberry County map that's on
the Imayberry page? ideally I'd like one that's suitable for framing, but
for right now I'm trying to pin down various locations in the area,
specifically the Darling property and the Robert E Lee Natural Bridge.

Just finished the Darlings are coming when I noticed two things:
first, the building directly behind the David Mendlebright Memorial Horse

Well, if we are limited to four like Mt. Rushmore, I know Andy and Barney
would be there. And, most likely Aunt Bee Who would be 4th? Opie???
I must say that I followed your same logic. Andy and
I was doing a little cyber doodling today and decided i would emblazon our
venerable Mt. Rushmore with the Likenesses of four worthy Mayberryites.
Before I share who got my vote, I thought I'd put it out to the collective

In regards to things not making sense, and Opie's baseball fabrication. it
seems these are common themes on the show. Malcolm pretending to get drunk
so he'd be fired all to bring Aunt Bea back into action.
and how about Andy and Ellie's fabrication of a burglar to boost Barney's
morale.

Just finished watching the Sand Pebbles and was surprised at the number of
TAGS alum!
Of course Gavin McCloud was an obvious stand out, but I also spotted Barney
Phillips [Eddie Brooke] (though I didn't know his name until I looked him
up.)
I'm ashamed to say that there were three more I found on
the first percussion instrument that came to mind was Ernst T's Gas can.
not only was it percussion, it was also Tunable :)

In response to Paul's Hymn posting, did anyone mention Man in a Hurry
where Andy is singing Church in the Wildwood? I thought I read somewhere
that was supposed to be Andy's favorite hymn. always enjoyed that song, and
especially Andy's version on the front porch.
last night while watching Barney at check point Chickey I was surprised
to see just how substantial Route 6 (IIRC) was.
I''m used to those lonely stretches of dirt road where most of the out of
town driving takes place but Rt 6 looks like it's off the 40 acre lot.
is CP Chickey on the other
