I'm not sure if this has ever been discussed before, but tonight I was at a friend's house and helped him connect a new DVD player to his TV. The disc he chose to test his new player was of TAGS containing the Alcohol and Old Lace episode. We had to watch the entire episode, just couldn't contain ourselves. My point is, it dawned on me that possibly the inspiration for the Baldwin sisters on The Waltons were inspired by Mayberry's Morrison sisters. Both set of sisters felt with their own set of convictions that they were not moonshiners, but rather that they provided a "recipe" or "elixer" to be enjoyed only for special occasions. Also, the house that Sam Jones of Mayberry RFD lived in was later the same house occupied by The Waltons.
