I thought it might be fun to take some characters, particularly guest stars, and imagine that they were real people..and see how they changed, or stayed the same, on different shows of that era. That probably sounds confusing so I'll start with a couple of examples.
Ron Bailey, (the speedy young rich kid in the convertible) played by Bill Bixby, got to spend some quality time watching a model father and son (Andy and Opie) and how they treated each other. ...Later Ron had a son of his own named Eddie, and he displayed that same great fatherly Love and Discipline in..The Courtship of Edie's Father. He also was a widowed father with a housekeeper. How ironic is that? Ron did have a bit of a temper though...and at times he got a little out of control (The Incredible Hulk). Jeff Pruitt, was a great farmer, but he got frustrated at never finding the right woman in Mayberry. So he sold his farm and started a new career. He bought a little tour boat, and became a ship Skipper. Dud Walsh (the second) was exposed as an imposter for Hoke Howell (the real Dud), and he also fled Mayberry. He met up with fellow Mayberryian, Jeff Pruitt, who gave him a job as a first mate on his boat. He changed his name from Dud to Gilligan so that Briscoe and the boys could never track him down. He later used his trapping skills when he was stranded on as island. OK, there you go.. Now lets see what others can come up with. How did a manicurist end up in a bottle? Did Bradford Taylor finally settle down in a legitimate business? Was David Brown always poor?
