I know Barney accidentally firing his gun was part of the humor, but it definitely wasn't displaying gun safety. Today I was watching "Opie's Medal" and observed Barney fire his pistol in the office with it pointed to the ceiling.  I believe the Mayor's office was above them.  Then he fired it
