Wow, did I goof! Is this the same episode where Andy says something about
being a sport once in awhile? In any case, my brain freezes are coming more
often at my age. Sorry if I confused anyone besides myself!

I feel Opie was so distraught at breaking the big bottle that he did not
notice at all that there was no fragrance! As far as shoppers, I think most
women who would purchase expensive perfume were already familiar with it
from a dept store or relative. However, the druggist might've had
In the episode where Opie breaks a bottle of perfume,a couple of things bother
me.When Opie breaks
the bottle, should he not have noticed there was a lack of smell? This should
have alerted him that the
bottle contained colored water only.Secondly, wouldn't a potential customer want
to know
I don't know about the perfume Opie broke, but I work in the produce dept of
a grocery store and the worst thing you can do in my area is break a jar of
chopped garlic. You not only have to clean up the mess, you can't just dump
it in the bin in the back room, you have to take it a

You know, I think I would have done the same thing myself -- and probably most

Good question. Perhaps he expected it to smell like an old catcher's mitt.

Maybe Opie was subconsciously thinking that the more sophisticated/expensive
the perfume, the more subtle the scent.
This may be over-analyzing whether the $64.00 bottle of perfume was an
extravagance or not.but isn't this one of the many reasons why we love
our little group: obsessing on things others don't even notice??
I did some searching and found that, when adjusting for inflation, $
