Hi All,
I'm just going crazy trying to find some solution to the situation with
forms giving unauthorized domain errors to Norton Personal Firewall users.
Any form I found uses refers as a means of security to keep out spammers.
But Norton's PF hides the users so well, so they get lumped in with
Hi Ali,
If the form needs to be secure why don't you hide it behind a login session?
If you want you can set a cookie to keep users logged in, if there's not
tooo sensitive information. Downside is that users might browse with cookies
off. I don't know if Im misanderstanding.
:)

Hi Sonja, thanks for replying.
I'm really not sure what to do with this. Cookies are possible but it's, as
you mentioned, still something the visitor controls... which is where the
problems are coming from to begin with. I'd like to avoid logins, especially
since I've never set one up before and
Hi Ali,
Could you please post your code (the referer section), we don't do it and Im
quite curious what it looks like. Im not sure how spammers can highjack a
form. If they use automated processes you can ask a fields in a form to be
validated before it gets submitted (ie, look that emails are

replace the A4 with 'A4'
That fixes it...
Usually to output font color=red by using response.write you'd do
response.write(font color=red)
The sequence escapes the last and outputs to the screen. In SQL Code,
there is no outputting to screen, the is being passed to the SQL engine
Dunno what the story is but would love moving to Crete tomorrow!!!

It currently 12:20am here (Adelaide, Australia), and I've shutdown my work

I'll see how I go in the morning. Thanks for ya help.

Hi Sonja, thanks for looking at this.
Here (I think) is the referer section, from Jack's Formail. I've used
another form in ASP on a windows server that has a similar system, which of
course Norton's Firewall slams into. I could just chop it out, but I
hesitate since it's supposed to be in there

Hi, Ali,
I don't know what your form is for, so I don't know how much trouble you
want to go to. However, I have seen a lot of sites these days (like
GoDaddy) using an image containing numbers on their forms. The user then
has to type in the numbers into a textbox. Since automated tools

Hi Amanda,
This website's just using forms for fairly simple stuff like user comments,
questions and the like. It's just been a major pain in the rear dealing with
Norton Firewall situation on this, and I don't know enough programming to
come up with my alternate. I think I may just work around

Deb,
I'm enormously impressed! I had not been following the .htaccess thread, but
decided to take a glance at it and followed Pixelresources link. You have
put an incredible amount of work into this site. It is so professional in
appearance and the functionality is staggering. How long have you
I've got news for you it isn't just Norton firewall users who get that

as well as Zone Alarm and I've been seeing that message a fair bit
lately. Find it annoying and patronize other sites instead of the ones

Actually, I need a website/website redirect, which is what I think you
are trying to do also. Directory/directory redirect is easy if the
directories are on the same site.
