Hi,

The online email issue happening last year is reoccurring now (actually for a while) and becoming worse: all the online email functions- php mail() - I have at two websites are not working; they just don't send out emails they suppose to. The mail() function is coded in two contact forms and other places at a shopping cart to email visitors, customers, siteowner, and shopowner. This time, it just plainly sends no one any mail, even after a visitor submits a contact form and shown a page that says "Your message has been received and under our review for further action. You will receive a confirmation email shortly. Thank you." And the siteowner receives no mail with visitor's message, not even a mail error. The lighter problem happened last time has been fixed by the host company - PeopleHost. This time, I contacted the support (with a support entry form, no phone support) and there was only one response asking me to remove one of my email account and re-set it up, which I immediately did, but found nothing fixed. Then for almost 6 days, I kept requesting a check-up and fix, but received nothing back, not even a response confirming their receipt of my complaint. This is making me crazy for there seems to be no other way to reach PeopleHost for a solution and if the "support" personnel don't give you a daxx, you lose everything. I remember that someone in this Forum has several times recommending PeopleHost based on his/her experience as a user. Could that member, or anyone, tip me off how to get them (PeopleHost) to resolve/fix this problem? Or point out the possible causes of this mail() malfunction? Thanks so much.

Hi,

I am not very sure about the cause of this email problem; it could be web design related or not. I have a simple contact form on my site, which is followed by two mail actions (sending one to the visitor and one to the siteowner) executed by php mail() function after visitor submits the form. I made a test submission and found that the email sent to the siteowner is fine (both the sending email account/address and receiving email account/address are within the same server: the hosting server). However, the email supposed be sent to the visitor (i.e. me) was bounced with a permanent error of "unrouteable mail domain xxxxx.net" where xxxxx.net is visitor's (my another email account/address within my ISP's server which is different from my site hosting server) mail domain. The sending email account/address is the same one.

I tried to use my mail client of the sending mail account to directly send a test email to the visitor's email address (my ISP's email account set in another mail client) and it worked fine! Also, I have received "normal" amount of emails from this email address every day; never had an impression that it is with a "unrouteable" mail domain.

Now I am stuck and confused as how this happens? Does this have something to do with web coding or mail client configuration or mail server setting? Could anyone shed a light to help resolving this problem? Thanks

KoaFar
