Susan,

Although there are many different languages out there, you may want to
assess which ones you *truly* need to learn.  My philosophy in my
business is to never re-invent the wheel.  In other words, if there is a
wiz programmer out there (like Matt Wright:
http://www.scriptarchive.com/) who has made a free script, why should I
spend the hours upon hours (at the rate of $[can't say].00 an hour) to
do what he has already done?

I know enough JavaScript, PHP, and Perl to get a script to work on my
servers and that's it.  BTW, PHP is very functional and I am trying to
learn more, but am in no particular hurry.  :)

Thanks for your advice.  I do visit WDVL fairly regularly and hotwired
occasionally.  I didn't know of the other ones.  Being a jack of all
trades I'm overwhelmed by all the languages and possibilities for design
there are.  Maybe the real key is to just start doing it and see what
happens.
