The file was scanned into Paint Shop because I wasn't sure if I could

Sometimes Windows will rename the file extension (pdf) to (ps), Just go in
and change the file extension.
You should be able to download an evaluation version of Paint Shop Pro over
at http://www.jasc.com/.
