You don't need to build a batch file. Put the original Windows disk in your
cd drive, Start, Run, sfc.exe /scanboot and restart.
Just make sure if you computer is set to boot from cd that you don't push a
key or whatever it is you are supposed to do to boot from the cd instead of
the hard drive.
Thanks Bj.Hve just spent happy hours de-virusing the viri. This
time AVG happily healed the two Windows files!!Another 10 had
appeared, but they were all in Eudora as zips. they are now in cyber

Dear Aunty Spam ;-) and Cheryl,
Thanks for your emails concerning Zone Alarm. I think I've got
everything fixed and I am considering trying to re-install it.
It was such a mess, no clue where I messed up.

Elisa,
I had trouble with an install of Zone Alarm some time back; the best
answer I could find is that a mirror site had mixed versions, and I
had and Xp version on my 98se.I have been running without for a
while, but the machine stayed clean until Saturday, when AVG told me I

I just have still two infected files SHIGMAPI.DLL and
TASKMON.EXE; does anyone know what I should
do about them. I am just refusing access at present.
Worth visiting www.symantec.com where you can quickly download a myDoom
removal tool
Joseph
I believe that TASKMON.EXE is a windows task manager file. However, in
order to be safe, besides using ZoneAlarm which I swear by, download
adaware to search your computer too. I agree that you need to be very
aggressive in getting all of the garbage out of your computer.

Dear Erik and dear group,
Thanks so much.

I used my [EMAIL PROTECTED] for that email and I used my

used [EMAIL PROTECTED] (my guinea pig forum) email for another

I use zonealarm but I don't allow it to have its way with my
computer.
I manually configure everything that should have access.

Did you authorize the Bat to access the internet? I've not had a problem
with zone alarm blocking something I authorized to get out. Make sure you
have it set to ask you whenever a program tries to get out until you assign
it a permission setting. If you aren't using Outlook/Outlook Express don't
That's not a zone alarm message. I've gotten that one from my server when
the password somehow got messed up.

Elisa,
I have been receiving wdvl talk list emails sporadically, for some time
now. Don't know why the list is so quiet though. In any case, welcome
back Elisa. :o)

Hi Elisa,
Your account was not being sent to for some reason, although it was ~not~
on hold. I checked for a hold immediately, but found there wasn't one. I
then checked to see if mail was going out to you, and found it wasn't. You
weren't on the 'sent to' list, nor were you on the 'not
must be the ghost in the machine.

Dear Group, Linda and Michael,
It must be almost Halloween! ;-) We've got ghosts and jinxes!
Actually, the strangest thing just happened. I was on a guinea pig
page as I was reading your two posts and I got a Messenger Service
pop-up - concerning a doubtful service (you know what I mean...)
yep.

Thanks Deb Hugh - I was a bit worried that the fonts would have to be on

Thanks again,
