unfortunately some of the latest updates killed my patch system functionality (latest working was at http://groups.google.com/group/web2py/browse_thread/thread/1dd2eb3c066d7d2b will try to update it so it will work for future versions of web2py) so use this older version that has this incorporated and working can be downloaded from bojanka.net -> http://bojanka.net/w2p-massimo.tar.gz
