In general every host is different but web2py works with most of them as long as they provide python 2.5 (web2py trunk works with 2.4 and 2.6 but 2.5 is the official version) and support mod_proxy, mod_wsgi, fcgi or cgi (algthough cgi is not recommended because some features like streaming would not work).
