Yes, I like the idea of this :) I am keen to add some support for spatial queries....using spatial functions where supported at the back-end (PostGIS & Spatialite), but falling back to std RDBMS queries (slow) where spatial support isn't native. Seems like we can add the default RDBMS code to the BaseAdapter & then add spatial functions within the specialised versions.
