OK it was just the act of casting Object (from valueForBinding) to my
subclass which required access to my class hierarchy and non-exported
jars. It's all trivial anyway as everything's exported as it should
be..

It may be worthwhile for you to upgrade Eclipse/WOLips to a
configuration that is common and that is known to work:
Eclipse 3.4.2
WOLips 3.4. latest
Leopard 10.5.8
I have Eclipse 3.4.1/WOLips-3.4.latest-nightly/Leopard 10.5.8 and no
issues with ant embedded builds.
