Could very well be. But having an information within our big admin and
listing the steps to get there (preferably using Squid / OpenSolaris)
would be useful to our customers. Any volunteers ?

Right. The cause in this particular case is that the catalog that was
"baked" into the 2008.05 media was created before the "amp" cluster was
created. Doing the "pkg refresh" causes you to get the latest catalog
from the server.
